Bladex Supports Grupo ESTRELLA’s Regional Expansion
Bladex (NYSE: BLX) announced the financing of Grupo ESTRELLA’s acquisition of Cementos Fortaleza in El Salvador.
The agreement involves the acquisition of the cement plant located in Acajutla, El Salvador, with an installed capacity of 350,000 tons of cement per year. With this addition, Grupo ESTRELLA expands its cement operations to a third country, strengthening its regional presence alongside the Dominican Republic and Panama, where it operates under the Cemento Bayano brand.
For Bladex, this transaction reflects its purpose of building bridges between Latin America and the world to advance the development of its clients and the region, by supporting a Latin American company in its regional expansion and contributing to the strengthening of strategic sectors such as construction materials and infrastructure.
“After supporting them in 2025 in the acquisition of Cemex’s assets in Panama, accompanying Grupo ESTRELLA once again in this new chapter of its history is a source of great satisfaction and pride for Bladex. We share a growing, long-term relationship with the Group, and we trust in the strength of its business model and in the potential that El Salvador represents for the construction sector. Transactions such as this reaffirm our commitment to supporting Latin American companies seeking to grow beyond their borders,” said Warren Bonilla, Commercial Director for Central America and the Caribbean at Bladex.
This transaction reflects Bladex’s role as a financial partner to Latin American companies with a regional vision, providing solutions that connect capital, growth, and integration in key sectors for Latin America’s development.
